Is your course 100% online?

The course is 100% online, including the lessons and practice exams.

How do EduTailors lessons differ from in-person courses?

We offer quality, convenience, transparency, and technology. We help tutors who are publicly rated by students, offer them the best education technology tools (which they may not have been able to afford on their own). Moreover, we fit your life, as this takes place, wherever and whenever you want, in the comfort of your own home, at a time that is convenient for you.

Why should I not send my child to a classroom or to a private educator?

First of all, we are backed by the best educators in the country, most of whom work for one of the best Private Schools in Greece (Mandoulides School) and are publicly rated by you, the student or parent!

Students have the ability to study at their own pace and finish all their questions without accumulating knowledge gaps.

The cost is lower, and you save time from the unnecessary commute.

Why should I choose EduTailors when there is so much free online content?

Μost of our tutors are Greek, who know and understand Greek culture. On the internet, you will find thousands of pages of scattered information. There is no established high-quality platform, domestically or abroad, that deals with the very complicated Greek education system.

We have all the information that a learner may need, quickly and easily accessible, on a platform tested and evaluated by experienced educators. Students can spend time and energy on learning rather than on unnecessary searches.

How does EduTailors differ from other online tutoring centers?

Our lessons are more than just a Skype session or an online PowerPoint. We offer adaptive learning technology that suits each student’s academic strengths and weaknesses, so the homework becomes a uniquely personalized experience (adaptive learning technology applies only to specific courses).

Can the virtual whiteboard replicate the in person offline experience? How can I write online?

Good question. Our online platform is designed for all types of users, users who prefer typing, users who prefer writing with a mouse and users who prefer writing with a pen!

Yes, you read well you can do all of the above. If you do not like typing you can use the mouse. The mouse might be a good fit for users who seek science courses. If you want to write even faster just use stylus tablet and handwriting will be on screen. As simple as that!

You can also share your screen so that your counterparty can see what you are writing!

Do they use a similar method in other countries?

Yes, this method is based on best practices and case studies from abroad.  Both the flipped classroom model and adaptive learning have had tremendous results. We are enhancing the offering though, so we are in fact a step ahead!

What if my child does not understand something?

If students have a question, or an exercise that they cannot solve, they can communicate with our educators. We work methodically. We do not just solve the exercise, but we show them the methodology to follow, and we find possible gaps in understanding. The role of the educator is that of a coordinator and adviser. We do not offer an immediate solution, but we discuss the problem and enhance active learning through discovery.

My child already spends several hours on the computer. Should the computer be used for learning as well?

Children have connected technology primarily with games. This is an opportunity to show them that technology can be their ally in education and can allow them to study more efficiently. We emphasize the proper use of the computer so as to have real teaching value. With new technologies, we stimulate student interest and make studying more fun.

How do I know my child will actually be studying, rather than playing on the computer?

Along with the control capabilities that our platform gives you, you will have a complete picture of what your child does during the live session. There are also now many applications that can allow access only to specific web pages. Our specialized technical staff is here to inform you for anything you may need.

How do I get informed about the progress of my child?

Just like in an offline tutoring session, guardians can get informed at the end of the lesson by briefly chatting with the tutor.

Is my child too young to need extra help with schoolwork?

Even in the early years of primary school, children face difficult concepts in mathematics and other lessons. You will probably find that most children in their transition to high-school face great difficulty in adapting to the increased demands. This is due to the fact that they have not obtained the necessary foundation in primary school.

Children from an early age need to learn to organize their study on their own. Children, even from the 3rd grade, can learn with educational quizzes and games, analyze their lessons, and make their daily study more interesting. In the early years, we are sure that it will be a very useful tool, even for you parents!

What are case studies?

Case studies are part of a teaching approach widely used in business and law schools, which presents the students with a real-life situation, typically involving a rapidly changing environment and a set of variables, and puts them in the role of the decision makers facing the problem/dilemma, linking the classroom knowledge with real-world applications. EduTailors offer the most comprehensive animated science case studies written for high-schools in Greece.

What are the benefits of using case studies in a course?

Case studies can be used not only to teach scientific concepts and content but can also build teamwork skills by allowing students to collaborate with their peers and develop critical thinking. Since many of the best case studies are based on contemporary, and sometimes contentious, science problems, the use of case studies in the classroom makes science relevant to boys and girls.

Specifically, EduTailors’ case studies deal with the intersection between Science, Ethics and Politics and general issues that affect the global population. For example, EduTailors’ case studies create greater awareness of how discoveries in STEM have a profound and powerful impact on individuals and the environment. As a result, this stimulates girls' and boys’ interest in seeking STEM degrees, promoting entrepreneurship and a focus on global issues.

Where can I find reviews on EduTailors' tutors?

The tutor page is a great resource for viewing verified reviews by real students.

Does EduTailors meet the needs of non-native Greek speakers?

Yes, we do, even though the majority of the curriculum is in Greek.

Will my children’s sessions be recorded?
Sessions are recorded for 2 reasons:

  • Ensuring student safety on the platform
  • As a means for the tutors to improve their teaching
  • As well as a means for students and parents to be able to review their past sessions and replay them as needed for learning purposes
These sessions are stored securely online and are accessible by the student or the parent. EduTailors admin personnel also have access to these recordings within the platform for the purpose of reviewing any disputes and ensuring the safety of the students. Further details can be found here in our privacy policy here, regarding recordings and the purpose for these.
If they are recorded, do the tutors keep footage of my children's sessions in their computers?

The tutors that complete the session with a student do have access to these recordings via our Platform. They cannot download the session, they can just watch it online via our platform.

What is your overall strategy on video recordings?

All lessons on our platform are recorded and stored securely on our servers. The recording is an integral part of our product, and forms an important part of our safeguarding procedures. Because of that, it isn't possible to opt out of recordings. Here is an overview of the security measures we have around recordings:

  1. Recordings files are held in a secure private Amazon S3 bucket with no public access to the files.
  2. Access to the files (recordings) is only available through a web request passing via the EduTailors application which is password protected.
  3. Requests are sent via a security filter in the EduTailors web application. This filter will authenticate the request and only grant access to a recording, where the authenticated user is either EduTailors’ admin staff or the user to which the original session belongs.
  4. Recordings are deleted automatically 90 days after the lesson takes place.

We have brought on board specialist safeguarding and data protection experts to help us develop these procedures, and we're fully compliant with the GDPR.

No reimbursement will be made for classes rescheduled less than 12 hours in advance.

In the cases where the tutor is the one canceling the course, the student will be reimbursed.

For absences due to illness, please provide a note from your doctor.

If the group session is scheduled and agreed by the group of students, the tutor will begin at the designated time, even if some students are late.

In case a group lesson is canceled, the course cycle will be extended, and an extra lesson will be added to the end.

What is your policy on class delays and on no shows?

An individual class slot will be freed up and will be considered a no-show if any of the participants, student or tutor, are more than 5 minutes late. No reimbursement will be made. Students who participate in live online group sessions are excluded from this rule.

What do I gain by signing up to your platform?
You gain 3 things:

Training: You will receive thorough training and access to top-notch technology.
Flexibility: We fit your life. Teach from wherever and whenever you want! Choose the students you work with.
More money: Charge what you deem appropriate, without any intervention.
Should I drop from your platform when I get established so that I can pocket more money? Why should I stick around?

Good question! You will not be able to use our technology and you will not be able to use our marketing budget to reach students all over the world.

Teachers try to help each student individually. They try to focus on him or her.  This personalized remediation is carried out by the best tutors in all schools but it is very difficult if the student continues to fail in future topics. Actually, it becomes a Herculean effort if the tutors have to do this for all the students in all of their classes.

In our adaptive course, with the help of the knowledge graph, this happens at will. The knowledge graph is a cross-disciplinary graph of academic concepts; within the graph, concepts have prerequisite and post-requisite relationships that define a student’s path through the course.

When students fail a topic in our adaptive courses, they are helped with prerequisite skills, which are prioritized on the strength of their relationships to the topic at hand and on the student’s demonstrated strengths and weaknesses. As a result, the tutors are freed from the administrative work of locating all the prerequisite skills and correlating them with each student’s past performance. They now have more time to teach, solve exercises with the student, initiate classroom activities, introduce creative group work and encourage each student to address their misconceptions.

Learning is an interrelated function. Our knowledge graphs are designed by subject matter experts (SMEs) and take into account the tutors’ feedback. The knowledge graphs allow our adaptive platform to take full advantage of those connections and guide students toward mastery.

The strength of these connections is improved over time. We gather an ever-increasing sample of data. Sometimes we find that some prerequisite skills aren’t helpful. Others are very effective as skills to review before students return to a topic they barely understood. The goal of such data-driven analytics is to replicate not only in real time but also on a large scale, the intuition great tutors develop over their careers. It will be super time consuming and expensive for any tutor to develop unique study plans for their students. No pupil is left behind as we do this automatically with our continuously refined knowledge graph.

What happens if I run late for a session?

2 delays or 2 cancellations violate our terms of service and trigger a termination of our partnership.

What happens if I am sick?

We should all respect each other’s time. To ensure that there is a valid sick leave we ask from all participants to submit an invoice issued by a physician.
